Chocolate, in it’s various guises. Eggs, bunnies, bars. Yum! Princi is busy eating a golden bunny. When she has gone to the seaside (the Horseshoe Pass plan has been put to pasture) then I shall open the egg Grandand bought for me. Yay! NOMNOMNOMNOM!

Grrr. I forgot to record the second part of the new Red Dwarf. Bum nuggets! I wouldn’t mind, but my sis reminded me earlier in the day. You’d have thought I’d have had the forward thinking to set the V+ box, but no. I was far too jacked in to Guitar Hero (addicted to bass, atm). Stupid, stupid me!

As for new Doctor Who… I need to watch it again. Princi decided it was a good time to make up a skat song. Every time the TV’s volume increased, so did Princi’s. Why, then, has she not got a mute button? Most unfair! At least I recorded Doctor Who. What I did see and hear of it was good though, and Lee Evans really did steal the show. He was fantastic.

Oh, and Monsters vs. Aliens… Brilliant! I loved it! Well, the parts I was allowed to watch, anyway. The sci-fi films paraodies were fab. The best line in the film made my sis and I nearly pee ourselves, and our laugh could be heard all over the packed out cinema screen. I really don’t understand why no-one else laughed, at least half of the audience were adults. The line? When Ginormica is beating up the evil alien, the alien says something and finishes the sentence with ‘…by Hawkins chair!’ Fabulous. Or if you’re Princi, fablious!

Well, time to get Princi dressed for her day out with Nanny and Grandand.

This afternoon, Princi asked if she could watch an episode of Doctor Who. I pulled up TV on demand, but some technical hitch stopped it from working. So we tried a little later, and the hitch had been fixed. So while Princi was sat on the floor completely distracted I brought up the DW episodes available, choosing one of Princi’s favourites. Still she hadn’t looked up. The episode started to play. The first note on the fist scene played (not the theme tune, by the way), and she said:

Ooh! That’s School and Chips!

Then she looked up at the screen.

And I thought I was obsessive!

I so want these! January 13, 2009

The new Doctor (www.bbc.co.uk)

The new Doctor (www.bbc.co.uk)

And so we have it. Not anyone who had even been mentioned. In fact, this was the first time I had seen his name in connection with DW, a posting made today, so maybe I should have clicked then. But yep, I said ‘Who?’ too at the reveal. I suppose that’s the reaction they want! Who, exactly!

The who stayed until they said that he was in the BBC adaptation of Philip Pullman’s ‘Ruby In The Smoke’, at which point I said ‘Ah, maybe he wont suck so much then.’

And on other, more sporty news… Andy Murray has started the tennis season with tournament win! Yay! He beat Rafa Nadal in Abu Dhabi, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3. Not bad seeing as he beat Roger Federer yesterday. Looking good for the coming year, I am looking forward to watching some good tennis matches.

To be announced this evening on a special Doctor Who Confidential. I’m all asquee!

Yes, I know I didn’t talk about the Christmas episode of DW, that’s only because I was disappointed with the Cybershades. That was a good idea, badly executed. What were they meant to be? Grrr. Other than that, I thought it was a good episode, and enjoyed the Doctor taking a backseat to a fake Doctor. Although I am now disappointed David Morrisey wont be the new Doctor because I thought he was really good.

So, who will be the new Doctor? Will it be Paterson Joseph, as so many rumours say? Or will it be one of the others – Chiwetel Ejiofor, Colin Salmon, John Simm, James Nesbitt (if it’s him I will be mightily upset)? Or could it possibly be my favourite for the role – Alexander Siddig? I know it probably wont be, and will more than likely be Paterson Joseph, there has been too much speculation in his favour, but I would love to see Alexander Siddig play the Doctor, as I said here.

Brace yourself. Time for Geeksomeness! November 23, 2008

Merlin. Last night. Apart from being a good story (yes, I know. I was disgusted with it when it first started, totally shredding and chucking the original Arthurian mythology out of the window, but I’ve since just enjoyed it as Arthurian fanfic.), it starred Alexander Siddig as Kanen, the villain of the story. Most peeps will know Siddig as Dr Julian Bashir from Star Trek: DS9, but he’s also played fantastic characters on Spooks and 24. But that’s going away from the thought that entered my head last night.

OK, so I know that Patterson Joseph is being pegged as the next Doctor, with much more speculation since this, but taking into account the amount of actor crossover from DW to Merlin, and the subsequent cropping up of Mr Siddig… Can you see where I’m going? I think he would play a fantastic Doctor Who. So in light of my previous captaining of Stephen Fry, whom I am sure will not be DW to my disappointment, I am now captaining Alexander Siddig. Who knows, maybe other Star Trek actors might filter in… Wil Wheaton as the Master, anyone? It’s about time he was evil! Or, oh, oh, Patrick Stewart (again with links to Merlin, although not the TV show… Stewart played Leondegrance in the film Excalibur)… He would make an insanely evil Master, me thinks, although there is speculation of him guest starring, or maybe taking up the Doctor mantle… (Although how much stock you want to put in that report is up to you. The Sun isn’t exactly known for its reliability now, is it?)

No, I haven’t got a cold. They are boo-hoo sniffles. The second-best Doctor is nearly ripe for regeneration. David Tennant announced that he is to leave the show at the end of next year, after the last of the four specials. Sniffle! I have really enjoyed watching him as the Doctor. But, as is already happening over the interwebs, the fun of speculating on the new Doctor begins. If only they could get Richard E. Grant to play him, I would be a very happy bunny! (I know he voiced an animated version, but I want to see him physically play the Doctor.) Or how about Stephen Fry! That would be worth watching, although not as appealing to kids, I’d imagine.

(Do you know when a word looks wrong, but it isn’t? I’ve just had that feeling. Eugh!)

And now, for some light entertainment;

Back to back they faced each other, drew their rackets and aced each other!

Rafa won! That was a fantastic final, full of excitement. I thought it was over in the third set. Rafa had taken the first two sets, 6-4, 6-4, and he was 4-5 in the third. He was playing just a notch better than Roger, so I thought he would break Roger and go onto win. But – dun dun duuuuun – rain delay! The third set went to a tie breaker. Roger turned on the tennis magic to win the breaker 7-5. The fourth set, littered with championship points for Rafa, also went to a tie breaker, again won by Roger, 10-8. At two sets all, 2 games all and 40-40, another rain delay. After about 30 minutes they resumed play.

After a really tough battle royale, Rafa took the fifth set 9-7. I think at the end of it all, after climbing to celebrate with his family, then taking a jolly jaunt over to the Royal Box, Rafa was a bit shell-shocked. But, I think, the better player won.

Yay! Louis Hamilton did go on to win at Silverstone. From a starting position of fourth, he jumped to second spot from the starting line, then overtook Heikki Kovalainen on the fourth or fifth lap, and led for the remainder of the race. ‘Twas an incredibly interesting race in wet conditions.

(Screencap from time-and-space)

Now. Doctor Who. Journey’s End. Not sure if I enjoyed it, or if I was a little disappointed. It had the making of a great episode, it wrapped up all loose ends, but it seemed a little too convenient. However, there were some fantastic components. The threefold man idea was complete genius. It also provided a reason for Donna’s repeated comment ‘I’m only a temp. Catherine Tate completely out-acted David Tennant, and I’d go so far as to say she was amazing. She nailed the quick talking explaining Doctor trait perfectly, though Tennant mimicked her quite well too. Dalek Caan, what a twist! Davros, too, was brilliant. Unfortunately, the cameos from everyone else seemed to fall by the wayside, seeming all pretty pointless.

I do have more to say, but I wont, for fear of spoiling it for peeps yet to watch it. All that’s left to say is – there’s a Doctor-shaped hole in Saturday evenings that needs to be filled!

Doctor Who and Wimbledon, day 6. June 29, 2008

As much as I enjoy tennis, I enjoy Doctor Who so much more. I was almost to the point of throwing things at the TV as programs started being moved in favour of the Murray/Haas match. I was willing Murray to win every single point just so Doctor Who would not be interrupted. But, luckily enough, Murray won the match about 30 minutes before the Doctor graced the screen. *Phew*

So, what happened at Wimbledon? Not much. Caroline Wozniacki gave Jelena Jankovic a good run for her money. I was hoping that Wozniacki might win. But no. After a fantastic first set, she lost the match 6-2, 4-6, 2-6. Ah well.

Other than that, nothing spectacular really happened. Janko Tipsarevic ousted Dmitry Tursunov 7-6 (7-1), 7-6 (7-3), 6-3. Shahar Peer took out 9th seed Dinara Safina 7-5, 6-7 (4-7), 8-6.

As for Doctor Who. Fantastic! I loved The Stolen Earth. I especially loved the crazy Dalek Caan. After all, every race needs its crazy psychics! The sound of drums popped up every now and again… Is this something to get excited and shiver with antici….. pation about? But anyway. I shall stop there in case I let anything important slip that spoils it for anyone (*waves* hello Dave!). I can and I can’t wait for next week.
